A $77.5 million Food Processing Emergency Fund was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada on June 12.

This money is available to support businesses experiencing difficulties in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is intended to encourage strategic investments to adapt, modernize facilities or implement changes required as a result of VIDOC-19 to ensure food safety and maintain the supply chain.

CTAQ is the management body for the Food Processing Emergency Fund for Quebec. Send your application to CTAQ (French only) before August 31. Do not delay, funds are limited.

Prevention and mitigation measures and response plans

Preventive plans can be used as a communication tool between the operator and the CFIA. As such, plans should include measures taken by operators that are:

  • tailored to the specific needs and realities of individual operations.
  • documented.
  • thoroughly implemented
